Hello friends!
So for the past week or so my friends over at Green Gables have been hosting a party!!
It’s a musical blog party featuring lots of singing, dancing (maybe), and even a tag! You can find out more about it here. And if you like singing (or doing tags) I would highly suggest you check it out, so we can all be in this together. 😜 It’s not too late to join!
Well, if you know me, you know I rarely pass up the chance to PAR-TAY! Plus, I love musicals….

Now, I may or may not be singing (that’s for me to know and you to find out. Mwahahaha! Don’t scroll to the bottom….), but I’m definitely doing the tag!

1. What are three musicals you really, really, REALLY like?
*Thinks for about three seconds*
The Sound of Music!!
That one had to be first, because it was my favorite movie when I was little, and I don’t think I’ll ever not love it.
White Christmas.
Because it’s hilarious, and THE DANCE SCENES, and even though our family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, we have to watch this one at least once a year.
Aaand the third one would probably be Newsies.
Again, the dancing (especially in the Broadway version) is EPIC, and the music is just so groovy and awesome!
2. Name three of your favorite songs from musicals?
How do you even choose?? There’s too many good ones!
Okay… “Candle on the Water,” from Pete’s Dragon. “Seize the Day,” from Newsies. And because it’s so hilarious and I always end up in tears from laughing, “Make ’em Laugh,” from Singing in the Rain.
3. Who is your favorite actor or actress from a musical?
I think I’d have to say Danny Kaye, for my favorite musical actor.
4. Do you have a favorite musical duet or two? Favorite version?
“All I Ask of You,” from Phantom of the Opera. And I’ve only seen the movie version, sooo… let’s go with that.
My second favorite—and you have permission to laugh at this—”Love Led Us Here,” from Muppet Treasure Island.
5. What are your favorite female solos?
Well, I already mentioned “Candle on the Water,” which is so good, I’m going to put it here too. *cries*
My mind is kind of drawing a blank when it comes to any others. I do like “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera.
“Happy Working Song,” from Enchanted is also great (although it’s way too catchy 😆).
6. What are your favorite male solos?
Does this count as a solo?
For hilarity’s sake, let’s just say it does. 😆
But seriously… I’m realizing that I don’t really know a ton of musicals. Like, I can’t really think of any male solos. The ones I keep thinking of are probably more of ensemble songs…?
Okay, I do like “Santa Fe,” from Newsies. (I think my Dad likes it too, hehe. There’s been quite a few times where I’ve sung a line of it, and he sang the next line… from another room. 😆 Don’t tell him I told you.)
Also, let’s not forget this solo…
7. Favorite ensemble songs?
“Thankful Heart,” from Muppet Christmas Carol. I love the victorious, fanfare vibes this song has. 😊
“That’s How You Know,” from Enchanted.
“I’m Free,” from Jonah. I watched the recording of this musical once a long time ago, and I’ve always remembered this song. I just found it again recently, and I’m so happy!!
8. What musical theatre song (or entire soundtrack!) do you like to belt out around the house?
I feel like I sing Newsies a lot.
And Phantom of the Opera…
I’ll also on occasion get songs from The Greatest Showman in my head. And then of course I can’t help but sing them. You know the struggle.
9. Which underrated musical would you like to tell us all about??
I would like to tell you about Pete’s Dragon.
No, I am not talking about the new movie they made, which is absolute rubbish. I’m talking about the musical that was made waaay back in 1977…. (And honestly, I had no idea that it was that old until I looked it up just now.)

Why did they think they had to remake this?? The songs are awesome, the animation is… kinda classic, the characters are great, and there’s so many hilarious lines!
Okay, so that wraps up the tag. And I probably had too much fun answering these questions.

One of my favorite musicals is The Greatest Showman. And that’s so cool that you mentioned The Muppets! I like the song “One More Sleep Til Christmas” on the Muppets Christmas Carol.

And, yesss!! I like pretty much all the songs from Muppet Christmas Carol, but that on is one of my favorites.

“I thought I could sing as well as Batman.” Love it! 😀 That’s a hard song because it’s pretty deep for girls’ voices, so good job!
I’m glad someone mentioned The Muppet’s Christmas Carol and Treasure Island. Those are great, and I love all the ones you mentioned. (Except I haven’t seen Enchanted.) A musical I think that is underrated is The Happiest Millionaire. Highly recommend!
