Music, Movies, and a Book

Hello all! How are things in your world. Things are crazy in my world. Sukkot is approaching and my family had been pretty busy getting ready.

Today I’ll be doing some tags…. again. Yes, yes, I know. It would seem that all I ever do these days are tags. But what can I say? Tags are an easy go-to when your creative thought process is blocked up from busy-ness.

I’m also do a cover reveeeal! I’ve never done a cover reveal so… *sucks in breath* …Prepare yourself. But don’t worry. It’ll be super professional. Just like I am…. Obviously… *nods* I’m very professional.

Hotdog! Let’s get to it.

The Music Tag

Ah, yes. A life without music is as bad as…. something really bad. Sorry, I can’t really think right now. I just really love music so I was very excited to be tagged for this! Thanks so much, Dekreel! (You can read her post here. 🙂 )

The Rules

  1. Write ten songs that come on shuffle (no skipping).
  2. Write your favorite lyric from each song.
  3. Tag some people.

Okay, This might be cheating, but I only songs from my favorites playlist. The reason I did it is because I have so much music on my phone, when I shuffled all, half of the songs I only mildly liked, and the other half I’d never listened to before. So I thought, instead of making a post about a bunch of songs I don’t really care about, I’ll just go to my favorites playlist and I’ll be guaranteed to love all the songs that come on. (I hope that’s not cheating, and I apologize if it is.)

So without further ado, here are the songs.

1. Pure Bride by Leeland

This is a favorite of favorites. Hands down. It sounds so much like the anticipation, excitement, and preparation of waiting for Yeshua’s return. Gives me chills almost every time.

Through the darkness His light will shine,
In His glory, He’s lifted high.
He’s coming for a pure bride.

2. Praan by Palbasha Siddique

It’s so easy to love songs sung in a different language and be completely oblivious about what they’re actually saying. This is one that has stayed a favorite even after I know the translation. 😛

সেই প্রাণে মন উঠবে মেতে
মৃত্যু মাঝে ঢাকা আছে
যে অন্তহীন প্রাণ

3. Only You (Can Wash My Sins Away) by Phil Keaggy

I’ve loved this song forever. The music is just so stirring and victorious and, well, it’s Phil Keaggy.

(Fun Fact: I listened to this song 9 times in a row twice and I still love it. That’s saying something.)

Maybe a change of heart and mind
Could make me begin to read between the lines
That fairy tales with happy endings
Weren’t just once upon a time

4. Love Is Still a Worthy Cause by Sara Groves

This song has been so encouraging to me, especially in times when love is just plain painful and does not feel like a worthy cause.

Friend I know your heart is raw
But love is still a worthy cause
Picking up and pressing on
Oh love is still a worthy cause

5. Angels by Owl City

I love Owl City but this one is actually not a favorite. (Oops.) I just starred it because I really like the piano part in the background of the verse and wanted to learn to play in on the piano. (And I did learn it. 🙂 )

Among my frivolous thoughts,
I believe there are beautiful things seen by the astronauts

Frivolous. That’s such a fun word to say…. frivolous.

6. Rise by Danny Gokey

I love how well the lyrics and instrumentation fit together in this one. Like, the music actually sounds like the words. (My brother and I love songs like this.) The drum in the verse actually reminds me of a beating heart.

And the heart that once was beating
Is coming back to life

7. Love Someone by Jason Mraz

I don’t always listen to secular music, but when I do it has to have good instrumentation and clean lyrics, and I really like the instrumentation on this one. 🙂

And it’s wonderful to be giving with my whole heart
As my heart receives your love

8. Cielo by Phil Wickham

Another song I learned on piano. Another song where the lyrics and instrumentation match. *fan-girls* This song captures so beautifully the awe and of stepping into the Father’s presence.

I can’t hold it all inside
I’m reaching for the One who brought me out of death and into life

9. Love You With My Life by Steven Curtis Chapman

I love 80’s music and this song makes me so happy. I don’t care if the horn section is fake.

Some people love with money;
Some people love with words;
Some people love because they love the returns;
Yet with all these complications,
The greatest love is always found
In the one who lays his life down.

10. Bulletproof by Citizen Way

Ending this tag with a bang. 😀 This is kind of a family favorite. One of the ones we like to play at our clean up the kitchen dance parties. 🙂

Your Love made a way
Now I’m not afraid
No matter what the world may say or what they do
I am bulletproof because of You

That was so much fun!

Now I’ll tag some peeps:

Evelyn
Mariposa and Aberdeen
Mary

Hope y’all haven’t been tagged already. 🙂

That wraps up the music tag. Next up…

Saw It In The Movies Tag

Whodunit_

I was tagged a couple months ago by the Maidens of Green Gables and I’m finally getting to it. Yikes. Sorry guys!

The Rules:

  1. Pick at least three things that you have done from a movie. It can be any movie, anything you did.
  2. Tell how the event worked out.
  3. Link back to the tags creator and the person who tagged you. Thank you Katherine and Grace!! (I’m actually not sure who originally created the tag.)
  4. Have fun.
  5. Tag at least four people.
  6. Use the header.

1. The Death Crawl from Facing The Giants

A lot of people who’ve seen this movie were really inspired by this scene. But for my siblings and I, it wasn’t enough just to be inspired. We had to try it ourselves. Unfortunately, though, none of us were strong enough to make it further than a couple steps. (This was when we were younger. We haven’t tried it recently. We might be more successful now. 😉 )

2. The Scissors Hold from The Kid (2000)

I tried this with Earnie once many, many years ago, with him sitting on top of me. It ended with his head banging against the floor. (Somebody call the waaaambulance!) He started crying and I felt horrible, (but mostly I didn’t want him to tell on me) so I said what any self-respecting ten year old would say, “Hey, It’s okay, I’m sorry. Look, you can do it to me.”

3. Bull Riding from The Ride

I feel like I’m going to disappoint some people here. You see, my brothers and I didn’t exactly have any bulls hanging around to ride…. so we rode each other. One of us would be the bull, bucking around like crazy trying to throw the rider off. Then someone else would be the rider, and the third person would be the announcer, who counted out eight seconds.

Ah, sweet memories! I don’t remember if any of us actually stayed on longer than eight seconds. Turns out riding wild siblings is almost as hard as riding a wild bull.

Alright, tagging:

Well, in accordance with the title of this post I’ve covered music and movies. Now we have just one thing left. A book!

So, one of my guild mates from Story Embers, Alabama Rose, wrote a book! And she’s getting it published! And I’m so excited for her! Congratulations, Alabama!! So I’m going to be giving you all a little cover reveal. *rubs hands together* Oh, yeah.

But first, here’s the blurb:

The Bruised Dream

13-year-old Sofia Anderson can’t wait to offer her home to the little children who find themselves in foster care. But when weeks go by without a call from the agency, she wonders if she’ll even get a chance. Finally, the call comes, asking Sofia’s family to foster two small boys. However, neither Sofia nor her family knew how much their decision would cost.

When Sofia finds herself alone and struggling to trust God, she wonders how she will ever get out of the mess that had been created … and how she can forgive the people who heartlessly tore her life apart.

Now the epic reveal!
