Happy Valentine’s Day! ~ I’m just here to share the love

I’ve never really been bitter about Valentine’s Day.

Well… actually, I do remember a time or two, back when I was on Instagram, and I scrolled past too many of those Selfie with my Valentine. Love you babe! posts until I was ready to scream.

But other than that, it’s never really bothered me. In fact most of the time, I don’t even remember it’s Valentine’s Day until half-way through the day, when I have that realization, “Oh, it’s Valentine’s Day!” And then promptly forget again.

But anyway, this year, I had a spur of the moment idea, and I decided to use this day of celebrating love as an excuse to share some love with some of my favorite fellow bloggers.

Because why would you waste a beautiful day moping and feeling sorry for yourself because you don’t have that special someone in your life, when you can celebrate because you just realized you have so many special people in your life? Your family who loves you no matter what, the friends who’ve stuck with you—okay, I’m not going to preach, you get the idea.

So without further ado, my favorite blogs/bloggers, in no particular order!

WELL… go read!

Oh, shucks, where do I start? Kenechi is just a lovely, talented human being. Her snippets of writing always capture such vivid snapshots of story, and subtle (or not so subtle) emotions. She’s also an awesome artist, and a wonderful encourager (yes, that is a word). Well, need I say more? Hit dem links, and go read!

Also, this post, will never not be the relevant kick to the guts I need.

The Maidens of Green Gables

Ahhh, a couple of my very dearest friends have this wonderful blog where they talk about stories, and musicals, and life things, and it’s just the absolute best. They did a read-a-long of one of my favorite books a while ago, and it’s just so epic and hilarious!!

Anyway, they are just so thoughtful and kind-hearted, and you should definitely check out their new blog and give it some love!!

Noah Litle Writes

Heh heh, what can I say? This is my brother’s blog. Oh, yeah. *cool moment*

He’s really awesome, and he analyzes stories, and has lots of great insights that you can totally steal and use in your own writing. For instance, this post has made me realize why I just don’t like certain characters, and why I love certain other characters. But it’s also given me the tools the create my own lovable characters.

Oh, he also wrote a guest post on my blog, which you can and should check out here.

Pen of Promise

This girl. Michelle just has such a beautiful heart, and I’m blessed to have her as a friend. Her writing is so evocative, and thought-provoking, and heartfelt, and she really needs to write a novel sometime. 😉

Her blog is also just so colorful, I love it. 😀 (It’s fairly new as well, so go shower her with love!!)

Also, this story of hers always makes me grin.

The Happy Hedgehog

Another gal with a beautiful heart here. Eden’s posts—whether they’re bookish, or tags, or just rants about life—are always so relatable, and yes… they make me happy. 🙂 She’s so honest and optimistic, and funny, you can’t help but be uplifted. She is also extremely encouraging, and everyone needs a friend like her in their life.

Icing on the cake: She makes the most adorable art! (She claims she’s not an artist, but I don’t believe it.)

The Rain-Drenched Writer

Evelyn is quite possibly the most aesthetic and poetic writers I know. She’s an amazing artist with words, and I really hope she publishes a novel someday, or a book of poetry, or children’s book, or something. It would most-likely be an instant classic. Please go read some of her poetry. You won’t regret it. 🙂

Besides that, she’s just an incredible, wonderful human being. (And—fun fact—she’s the one who introduced me to this wonderfully chaotic song. XD)

The Sarcastic Elf

I don’t even know what to say here. But Sarah is one of The Best™. I remember when I first discovered her blog, and I pretty much binge-read the whole thing. And then I was sad when I had read it all. Her art and stories are just awesomeness. (Also, Sarah… you need to publish a novel too… I’ll just be waiting.)

The Voyaging Storyteller

I just love Elisha’s blog. She’s so joyful, and her writing radiates with hope and encouragement. Her sense of wonder is contagious, and I love it. (And yes, I may have a little bit of wanderlust now, but it’s worth it. XD)

Her short stories are also really lovely, and her art is delightful! But don’t take my word for it. 😉 You gotta check it out yourself!

Well, this list could go on and on and on, until I ran out of descriptive words, and you all decided to stop reading, because you had better things to do with your life. I could talk about my family and how awesome, and creative, and supportive they are. Or my church family, and how inspiring, and uplifting, and sometimes hilarious they are.

But anyway. To those who are suffering in miserable singleness today, let me tell ya now, Valentine’s Day gets a lot better when you stop and appreciate all the wonderful people you have in your life. You are so loved.

So, why are you still here? Go love on your people!

  1. I’ll be that annoying person on YouTube and say I’m the first to comment. 🙂

Thank you for a beautiful post, Chalice! Like you, I forgot it was Valentine’s Day until your post promptly reminded me. I agree that singles should take the time to realize that there are people in their lives who love them and are worthy of their love in return. Also, thanks for sharing other bloggers! Now to go read some writings from bloggers you recommend . . .
